At Jays Transport, we’re proud to announce that we have achieved ISO 14001 accreditation, marking another important milestone in our ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility, sustainable operations and continuous improvement.
As a transport and logistics business, we understand that keeping goods moving comes with environmental responsibilities. From improving fuel efficiency and reducing emissions to reviewing how we operate across our depots and supply chain, we’re committed to finding practical ways to reduce our environmental impact while continuing to deliver the reliable, high-quality service our customers expect.
Achieving ISO 14001 reinforces that commitment and builds on the strong foundations established through our existing accreditations, certifications and industry partnerships.
What does ISO 14001 mean for Jays Transport?
ISO 14001 is an internationally recognised standard for environmental management systems. It provides a structured framework for businesses to identify, manage and continually improve their environmental performance.
For Jays Transport, this achievement reflects our commitment to taking a proactive and structured approach to environmental management. It supports our efforts to assess the impact of our activities, identify opportunities for improvement and make responsible decisions as we continue to grow.
We recognise that sustainability is an ongoing journey rather than a one-off achievement. ISO 14001 gives us another important framework to support that journey and keep environmental responsibility firmly on our agenda.
Building on a strong foundation of accreditations
Our new ISO 14001 accreditation joins a wider range of recognised standards, memberships and achievements that demonstrate our commitment to quality, safety, responsible business practices and operational excellence.
ISO 9001: Quality Management
Quality has always been central to the way we operate. Our ISO 9001 accreditation supports our process-driven approach to business, helping us maintain consistent standards throughout our operations and focus on delivering a dependable service to our customers.
FORS Silver and Bronze
We hold FORS Silver and Bronze accreditations, demonstrating our commitment to fleet operations, safety and responsible transport practices. These standards support our ongoing focus on improving how we manage our vehicles, drivers and day-to-day operations.
Constructionline Gold
Our Constructionline Gold membership demonstrates our commitment to meeting recognised standards within the construction supply chain. It has also supported our ability to work on major projects, including the HS2 operation.
EcoVadis
Sustainability extends beyond our environmental performance alone. Our EcoVadis recognition reflects our work across wider responsible business criteria, including environmental management, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement.
This achievement provides a valuable benchmark for our progress and helps us identify further opportunities to strengthen our approach.
RTITB Master Driver CPC Consortium
Our membership of the RTITB Master Driver CPC Consortium supports our focus on driver training, professional development and safer, more efficient driving. Investing in our drivers helps us work towards reducing fuel consumption, avoiding unnecessary infringements and maintaining high standards across our fleet.
Road Haulage Association (RHA)
Our RHA membership supports our connection with the wider road haulage industry. We operate under the RHA terms and conditions for our transport and storage services, helping provide a clear framework for working with our customers.
Alongside these achievements, our long-standing membership of The Pallet Network (TPN) and our wider industry partnerships help us deliver flexible distribution solutions while sharing knowledge and best practice across the logistics sector.
Turning our environmental commitments into action
Our ISO 14001 accreditation is an important milestone, but our environmental work goes beyond certification.
We continue to explore practical ways to improve efficiency and reduce the impact of our operations. Our sustainability initiatives include:
- Improving fuel efficiency: Using fuel-saving measures and carefully reviewing how we operate our fleet.
- Exploring lower-emission vehicles: Trialling alternative vehicle technologies to understand their suitability for our transport operations.
- Optimising routes and loads: Looking for opportunities to reduce unnecessary mileage and make better use of vehicle capacity.
- Supporting sustainable supply chains: Working with network partners and suppliers to encourage more responsible environmental practices.
- Investing in long-term progress: Working towards our Net Zero ambition for 2050, with interim carbon-reduction targets guiding our journey.
We also support local environmental initiatives, including the Wilder Carbon Honeygar Farm project, which is helping restore valuable natural habitats in Somerset.
These efforts reflect our belief that meaningful progress comes from a combination of clear objectives, practical action and a willingness to keep improving.
Why this matters to our customers
Choosing a transport partner is about more than moving goods from A to B. Reliability, safety, service quality and environmental responsibility are increasingly important considerations when businesses select their logistics providers.
Our accreditations and industry memberships provide reassurance that we take these responsibilities seriously. They reflect the systems, training and ongoing improvement that underpin our services, from regional distribution and national haulage to warehousing and specialist ADR transport.
As customer expectations and environmental priorities continue to evolve, we want to be a partner that businesses can rely on, today and in the future.
Looking ahead: Excellence, as standard
Achieving ISO 14001 is another positive step forward for Jays Transport. Together with our ISO 9001, FORS, Constructionline and EcoVadis achievements, it strengthens our commitment to operating responsibly, maintaining high standards and continually looking for ways to do better.
We’re proud of the progress we’ve made, grateful to our team for the work that makes these achievements possible, and determined to keep moving forward.
At Jays Transport, we’re not just focused on delivering for our customers. We’re focused on delivering a more responsible future for our industry, our community and the environment.
